AMD Fluid Motion Frames is now officially coming to the ASUS ROG Ally on April 25th, but some people have access to the update already.
AMD Fluid Motion Frames, or AFMF, is a technology that helps make videos look smoother.
Imagine you're watching a cartoon where some scenes jump or stutter because some frames are missing.
AFMF works like magic by filling in those missing frames.
This means when you watch something, the movement is smooth and it's much nicer to look at.
It's like when you're drawing a flipbook and add extra drawings between the pages to make the action look more fluid when you flip through it.
However, this can also cause some games to lag as the software isn't perfect.
Because it is generating frames that don't exist and it might take a toll on the system, depending on how demanding the game is.
AFMF is not the only thing coming out in tomorrows update, these things are being changed or fixed:
ACSE 1.4.13 on April 25 through Armoury Crate SE
· Enhanced the display speed of the Game Library.
· Added information to the Real-time Monitor overlay when using AFMF.
· Resolved a sporadic issue where AMD graphics card driver updates in the Update Center could experience timeouts.
· Expanded Keymap functionality to support the assignment of keys as trigger keys (requires MCU v317 or newer). For example, the M1 button can be assigned as the Left Trigger.

AMD Fluid Motion Frames, or AFMF, is a frame generation technology integrated into the AMD Software driver to increase frame rates and smooth movements, enhancing performance in video games.
While AMD's Fluid Motion Frames can increase frame rates, they may also introduce latency, similar to Nvidia's DLSS 3. It's advisable to use cautiously in competitive shooters. However, AMD's Radeon Anti-Lag feature can be activated to counteract any added latency.
A third-party modification now allows the use of AMD Fluid Motion Frames alongside other upscaling technologies like FSR, DLAA, DLSS, or XeSS on older Nvidia cards equipped with Tensor Cores.
To use AMD Fluid Motion Frames, you need at least Radeon RX 6000 GPUs or 700M-based APUs. It is supported on systems running Windows 10 or Windows 11 with the latest AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.1 installed.
You can verify the status of AMD Fluid Motion Frames through the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition's in-game overlay. This feature enhances FPS by adding frames outside the game engine, and the resulting FPS can be monitored using the AMD SoftwarePerformance Metrics Overlay.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) utilizes open upscaling and advanced frame generation technologies not only to maintain but typically boost framerates in supported games, ensuring high-quality, high-performance gaming across various hardware platforms.
While the main attraction of the ROG Ally lies in its capacity to download and play games directly on the device, its Windows platform opens up even more possibilities.
With Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can effortlessly access a vast library of games.
Simply launch the Xbox app or navigate to Xbox.com/play using the pre-installed Edge browser, and you'll be streaming your favorite games in just a few moments.
